The Scottish championship , known for sponsorship reasons as the ladbrokes championship ,is the second tier of the Scottish professional football league ,the league competition for mens professional football clubs in Scotland the league has a total of 10 teams that competes in the league with the current champions of 2018-2019 champions being Ross county

The Scottish championship was established in July 2013 after the Scottish professional football league was formed by a merger of the Scottish premier league and Scottish football league the league is registered under FIFA which makes the rules of football and controls football teams in terms of spending

FORMAT

Teams receive three points for a win and one for a draw . no points are awarded for a team that loss .teams are ranked by total points then goal difference and then goals scored .at the end of the of each season the club with the most most points is crowned the league champions

PROMOTION AND RELEGATION

The champions are directly promoted to the Scottish premiership , swapping places with the bottom club of the premiership .the club that finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th then enter the two legged premiership play off the 3rd plays against the 4th and the winner meets the 2nd placed club. the winner of the tie plays against the 11th placed premiership

Dundee United have completed the signing of left-back Adrian Sporle from Argentine top-flight club Banfield.

The 23-year-old has left his homeland to sign a deal until summer 2022 with Robbie Neilson’s side. on undisclosed fee but its believed that sporle was valued between 50,000 to 60 pounds

Ross County striker Billy Mckay has signed a two-year contract extension with the promoted Dingwall side.

The 30-year-old scored 20 goals for the Championship winners last season, despite his campaign ending in February with a broken arm.

The Northern Ireland international has been with the Staggies since July 2017.

He spent four-and-a-half years at neighbours Inverness Caley Thistle before a move to Wigan Athletic in January 2015

Signing defender Ciaran McKenna shows that Hamilton Academical will turn to youth next season, says chairman Allan Maitland.

Centre-back McKenna, 21, scored twice in 17 appearances for Falkirk in the Championship last season.

He had moved back to Scotland in January after turning down a contact at Celtic for a scholarship in the USA
